Good Morning America

Hey!

I'm going to be on Good Morning America on Thursday (2/19) morning.

So, um, you should watch.

I'm a little nervous.

I'm not going on for the Slow Cooker Challenge with Emeril, although thank you so much to everyone who emailed me about that---it sounds amazing, but I didn't get my act together in time to enter.
I am going to demonstrate a slow-cooked meal, but I'm not sure yet which one.

I'm leaving Wednesday morning, and will only stay one night. But! Some pork recipes will magically post all by themselves because I have finally figured out how to auto-post. It only took 14 months...

and. I've never flown by myself, so I'm kind of sort of freaking out.
and. do I wear the red or the blue sweater? (say the blue one)

and. will the zit on my chin clear in time?

and. since it's live I can't screw up---which makes me even more freaked out. But I've heard there's a few second delay in case someone drops the F-bomb. Which I'm not planning on doing, but you never really know, so it's good to have that as a back up just in case.

I think.

  1. You're amazing and inspiring! I am fairly new to crockpotting and hesitant where to start. I'm trying the "candy chicken" tomorrow. Good luck on GMA, Break a leg! :) And thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I will be tuning in!...YOU GO GIRL!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. You will be FANTASTIC!

Wear the blue, it will look great with your perfectly clear skin!

    ReplyDelete
  10. How very cool! Good luck, have fun, and wear the blue sweater - the TV poobahs prefer blue, it shows up better on TV. :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oprah says the most flattering color on camera is blue...so I say the blue one.

    ReplyDelete
  12. How exciting! I don't have cable, or else I'd watch it. Maybe I can DVR it at my in-laws house and watch it later. Good luck and wear the blue sweater!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'll be at work, so I'll miss it but hopefully there will be a video on the ABC site or You Tube! Good luck, wear the blue (and concealer if you need it), and have a great time!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. ohh so setting my DVR now!!

You will be fabulous! Don't even worry.
Pimple will be gone! Toothepaste helps dry them out if you get too close!!

Will be watching. we LOVE our crock-pot!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow, how exciting!!

I'd never flown alone until a few years ago and I was insanely nervous until I got to the airport and was getting to my gate alone. I had this weird sense of peace wash over me to just be alone and have a vacation with only my needs on my mind. So hopefully you'll experience the same!

Also, to clear up zits super fast, I usually put a bigggg blob of zit cream on at night and then a band-aid over and the zit is usually only a red mark by morning.

    Good luck!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congratulations! I know you are nervous, but you will be great! I'll be watching!

    ReplyDelete
  17. The blue will be lovely. And you will be awesome! Can't wait to see you. Have fun!

Totally laughing at the F-bomb thing! You'll do great. I'll definately watch. JMO but my family loves the Autumn Sausage Casserole and Rotissery Style Chicken. Those would be definate winners to make! Good luck :)

  20. How exciting for you! Wow! We've tried several of your recipes at our house, and we are LOVING your site. We're eating real food again. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our personal favorite is the Pasta Fagioli, you can feed lots of people for only about $7.00 using the best ground surloin, followed closely by Crockpot Cream Cheese Chicken. It is so good: we serve this on pasta, rice and toast. Whatever you choose, I am sure it will be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am so excited for you! You go, girl! I've made so many recipes from your blog. I've used my crockpot before, but now even more! My newest one (cracked a few in my lifetime) has 3 inserts in it. So, I soak my beans in one insert while another one cooks overnite. Is that swell? Blue sweater, like everyone says, listen to us, please, red is not photogenic and you will have your pic taken, for sure. I wish i could fly somewhere by myself (which I did, but that was 4 months ago but I am ready again). I've been with my kids 24x7 since husband works overseas. I homeschool them too. SO, I would be very "nervous" to get away. Nervous about what to read or do first! LOL! You'll do just fine! Now you are a VIP, so act like one in confidence! I'll have to run to the gym in the am just to watch you. I got no cable at home. It's also my son's BDay. I get a day off from school! Yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  23. HAHAHA....my daughter just leaned over my shoulder and we both said that we totally have to DVR it, just in case we're too busy in our morning routine! She's 12 and she's a fan too! In fact, I just made your Cream Cheese Chicken tonight, AGAIN, and it was a hit. AGAIN.

You rock, and we're totally gonna watch!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous2/16/2009

Oh I am so excited for you! i love watching people on TV and being able to say "hey, i know him/her!"

And i think it was really cute to show the random number thingy in this post!

    ReplyDelete
  25. i was going to say red because red is a power color or something like that...but then i looked at all the comments and it looks like you will probably go with blue! either way you will be stunning!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. You will be great! Both on the plane and off. I will tune in!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow, how exciting - congratulations! Even if your zit doesn't behave, I'm sure the tv guys will make it disappear :)
By the way, I made your Obama chili this past weekend and it was a HUGE hit with everyone - thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm so excited to watch you on GMA! Good luck, your other bloggies are routing for you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. You're a rock star! I'm setting my TIVO now. I'll add something wonderful about you to my daily list of affirmations. Have I told you, you rock!

    ReplyDelete
  30. That is super cool! I'm sure you'll do great. Your blog is awesome. I love checking in every day to see "what's cookin'" :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. You'll be great! No worries, just try not to drop the f-bomb and it will be fine. ;o) But even if you do, hey, that's what the delay is for. So it's all good.

Seriously, good luck and we'll be watching. Or TiVo-ing since it's carpool time. Break a leg!

    ReplyDelete
  32. How exciting. And to think that I can say . . . I discovered her blog before she was famous.

Good luck! I can't wait to see you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am going to watch.. and record it.. so if i hear the f-boom.. I can hear it over and over..hahah... You will do fine.. How did they find you..how did you get picked..

I've been on national TV a number of times, including Good Morning America two years ago, if you need any advice. Wear what feels comfortable and looks the best on you. You're going to be great. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congratulations!
I've been on Good Morning America before, it was lots of fun and a great memory.
Just relax and be yourself. You will love it.

And, definitely go with the blue sweater -- it's the best color for television.

    I'll be watching!

    ReplyDelete

Good luck and we'll be watching!

    You're going to be great!

    ReplyDelete
  43. How amazing! (Wear the blue!!)

    Good luck :-).

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tea tree oil will help clear the zit up...but they will also have people doing your makeup so I'm sure they can cover it with no issue. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and makes you feel like a million bucks. You'll do great...I love your recipes.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Way to go Crockpot Lady...you'll do great! I'm always clicking into your blog to try new recipes. Most recent one is the chick pea with cayenne. I loved them and so did my husband (he doesn't venture much so this was a real surprise.)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Good luck! I'll be sure to tune in! I know you'll be fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous2/17/2009

I view you through a syndication feed. LOVE your ideas, and appreciate your posts.

Good luck on television. Now I'll be looking for that zit! loL!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Makeup will cover the zit! You're going to be great. That's a lot of "firsts" for you. I'm sure the next year will be full of them. Enjoy!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. For my money, that brown sugar chicken can't be beat!

    ReplyDelete
  50. WOW!!
Enjoy the trip, you'll be marvelous! Blue sweater sounds perfect & I've heard that zits do not show up on TV unless they were put there on purpose by make-up specialists. ;)
I'll have to set the Tivo!
    Hugs!
    Betty

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yea! How exciting! Yes, wear the blue sweater and I'm pretty sure they have someone who can cover up that zit for you. You'll be great!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Go Steph! Just bring some gum and trashy magazines for the flight and you'll be fine. We all know you will be great. I am going to set my Tivo right now! Can't wait to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You will do great - good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous2/17/2009

Good luck!! I'm sure you will do a great job.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The proactive repairing lotion would clear that up overnight. My daughter tried it once and worked. She didn't even have the whole system.
That is cool you're gonna be on tv. I love Emeril. I will try to remember to watch.
Good luck and don't worry about the flying you'll be fine. I love to fly.
    Take care, Chrissie

    ReplyDelete
  57. Good luck! You'll be fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous2/17/2009

good luck, Steph. You'll do great (of course). I agree about the blue because red's hard to pick up on camera. Your segment won't be that long, but you'll have a great time!
Later on. I'll tell you what I did with pork, inspired by more than one of your recipes.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Good luck. I'll know you'll do fine on GMA. I have to work that day but, will tape the show. You'll do just fine - pretend you're blogging!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous2/17/2009

    wear the blue--definitely.

and here's a hint for flying--if you lift your feet up off the floor, you can't feel the turbulence as much. ;-)

Seriously, think of all you've acoomplished and know that you are a powerful woman.

    -Terri

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous2/17/2009

    Blue sweater.

And also, they will put so much makeup on you that you will never be able to tell if there is a zit.

Bring a good book for the flight. Or maybe some liquor. Whichever.

And have fun!! I'm super excited and setting my DVR!

    ReplyDelete
  62. How exciting! You totally deserve it, your recipes make my life good, and you're gonna be great!
And don't worry about flying by yourself - think of it as a chance to relax, have someone wait on you, and be able to read or sleep or whatever you want without getting interrupted (by, say, kids or husband).

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous2/17/2009

Congratulations! We're all excited. My sweet husband set the dvr for me and is trying to steal one of the peking pork chops outta the crock and they're not done yet:) Anyway, i am really happy for u and so are all your readers on here. we got your back girl and are ecstatic for U!! Way to go!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I can't wait to watch! Good luck. Just imagine everyone in their undies, because since I'm at home I will be. :)

ps. try a dab of toothpaste on the zit, it helps dry it up.

    ReplyDelete
  65. GMA has makeup artists that can take care of blemishes - they want you to look good too.

Take both sweaters. If Diane is wearing blue, wear red, or vice versa.

Just put on your "I've done this so many times I'm bored" look and hopefully airport security won't frisk you;). No sweat.

    the Fbomb? You mean...farfigneugen? GASP

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think you will do just fabulous and will be setting the vcr (yes, i still have one!) to catch it after work. My favorite recipe over the last year was your ratatouille. It was quick, easy and wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous2/17/2009

Good luck on GMA...I have set my DVR to record!! You'll do awesome! Just be yourself...oh, and the zit...maybe a little bit of neosporin dabbed on to help it heal. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. SO Exciting! I love your blog and what a great thing to be on the Morning show!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Best of luck on GMA. Definitely wear the blue, red sometimes doesn't photograph well. In many cases they will tell you not to wear red.

    Go get 'em!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ultra cool !
Who cares what Oprah says ?...wear your favorite...the blue one and have a blast...I'll TiVo it and watch when I get home !

    ReplyDelete
  71. Good Luck or Break a Leg or whichever one is the actual lucky phrase!

Don't be too nervous, you should be fine!

  72. Anonymous2/17/2009

already have the tape in the gizmo so i can be awed when watching u on gma and relax and enjoy you after...again and again. main thing: relax, but not too much. have fun, and i/we will too. whatever u wear will be just right. congratulations to u and to gma for finding u.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wow what fun! I would love to have something important to share with people on TV (I don't) Way cool! Have fun! The lass you think about it the easier it will be (at least for me When I danced on stage it was better for me to just make sure I knew the steps and then let it happen) You will do great!
PS what channel is it on I don't watch TV. (is that embarrassing?)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous2/17/2009

Wear the blue!! You will look wonderful! You will do great!!

Off to set the DVR. Good luck Steph!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Congrats and good luck! You'll be GREAT!

    ReplyDelete
  76. You know what would make your site even more awesome than it already is? A listing of the recipes by the time it takes to make them. I'm a work outside the house mom with a school-aged kid and a toddler, and my husband works second-shift type hours (and so is not home in at dinnertime). I rely on my crock pot several times a week for meals. Because it's hard to cook when the toddler wants to climb up your leg. But, this means I need recipes that take at least 9 hours. Just an idea for if you are ever on bedrest and needs something to do. Ha. I guess they wouldn't all have to be sorted by time, but a special list of the longer, gone all day recipes.

    ReplyDelete
  77. That's so exciting Steph! Good luck on GMA! You'll do awesome, and I for one will tune in. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Very cool! Good luck :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Good luck! I'll be watching!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I will DVR it. Dont' worry about the zit. Here are a few tricks. Desitin (yes, the baby butt cream) dries them out. Also, preparation H the night before reduces swelling and redness. If all else fails, they will have a make-up artist there to do your face. They don't let you go on TV with a giant zit. Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous2/17/2009

Good luck! You will do great and I will be watching. I love trying all of your recipes and I am still trying to get friends and family hooked on crockpot cooking as much as I am hooked. Thanks for all of your hard work!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Too cool!!!! Good luck and I"ll definitely try to tune in!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Blue sweater for sure!

Don't worry about the flying -- millions do it everyday and it's fine (I do it a LOT).

Be your own funny and sweet self and it will be a great show!

    We're all cheering for you!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous2/17/2009

Definately the BLUE! Blue, solid colors look best on camera. I will try to TiVo it! I am so happy for you and I love your site! I too am addicted to my slow cooker. I am having what I call hamburger stew tonight. Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous2/17/2009

Will watch and cheer you on!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Blue trumps all colors, IMO. Congratulations! What about challenging Bobby Flay to a slow cooker Throwdown. Now that I would love to see! Flying can be scary, especially by yourself. Bring lots of gadgets (ipod, laptop w/DVDs, playing cards--the tiny ones) or a book to calm you if you can't sleep on planes. Remember to stretch your legs a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Oh, wow! That is so amazing! Congratulations! You're a real celebrity blogger now!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dear Steph,

You are smart, and sweet, and funny! You are the real deal. You have been crockpotting consistently for over 365 days! You know how to crockpot and you have taught us about it.
So, go and have a blast doing what you know really well. Wear the blue sweater. And the pimple will be gone. We're all rooting for you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. i made both taco soup this weekend (that's what i think you should do for GMA--super easy and DELISH and great for newbies like myself--) and some chicken dish with apricot jam. both totally yummy!!!!

congrats on the GMA spot. you'll do great, i'm sure!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous2/17/2009

you have changed my life since I found your blog in December...so many thanks and hoping I'll remember to tape (I dont know to use the DVR).
BLUE sweater will take the redness out of any blemish but GMA will have your back for sure!!
Does not matter anyway b/c we all have such confidnece in you!

    ReplyDelete
  102. "and. I've never flown by myself, so I'm kind of sort of freaking out."
Flying alone is fun....no one else's stuff to worry about, no kids...it's nice.

"and. do I wear the red or the blue sweater? (say the blue one)"
Take both with you that morning....someone there will tell you what will look best on you on camera.

"and. will the zit on my chin clear in time?"
No worries. The makeup artist will know exactly what to do!

"and. since it's live I can't screw up"
Sure you can, and NO ONE will care! And if anyone back home says sh** to you about it, ask them when the last time THEY were asked to be on national TV!

    Have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous2/17/2009

    Congratulations!! You'll be totally FAB-U-LOUS!

    Wear the blue sweater.

Their make-up artists work miracles, so don't worry. They've seen zits before.

Be yourself. You know how to do this.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Definitely wear the blue...red doesn't always look that great on tv :)

    Good luck!

Congrats! I already set the DVR.

You know, Rachael Ray got her TV start on GMA. Just something to keep in mind :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I don't have television, so I can't watch, but I would so watch if we did.

Wear the blue, red can be weird on film. The zit will completely clear up, and in fact, the rest of your skin will glow. You will do astoundingly well, and some sponsor will offer to buy all your groceries (even the weird stuff) for a year. And mow your lawn.

Seriously, the plane? Way safer than the car, the cab, the bus. If there was a news story every time a car crashed, the way there is with planes, you'd never get in a car again. My husband flies, and I never worry about him in the air. It's the people on the road I worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Oh, and bring a book for the plane, so you don't feel too alone. Preferably something from the 18th century that has no F-bombs in it, so your speech will already be set for the show.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous2/18/2009

I just finished posting a comment on the GMA website. I saw your segment and was outraged at the way they rushed through it, got your name wrong and never mentioned this site. You deserved better. I love your blog and love my crockpot. I'm looking forward to your cookbook.

For anyone who missed it you can go to ABC.com and watch the segment on your computer. I posted a complaint about the way they rused the segment and I just checked back and saw that I was not alone. A lot of people were upset about it just like me. I did mention A Year Of Crockpotting in my comment so people could find you.

I just watched the GMA...they could have done with way less Oscar stuff and had you on for a way longer segment. BTW...good color choice on your top!! It was great to see you on TV!!

Hey everyone, here's the link to see Steph's spot on GMA today:

    http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Recipes/story?id=6905893

You'll probably have to copy & paste it.

Steph, you are so ADORABLE, and the blue sweater looked wonderful!
    Great job!

I also made a post there:

    "I agree 100% with katklaw777.

Stephanie has shown the convenience, versatility, and frugality (something we all need right now!) of crock-pot cooking to a whole new generation!

Her blog is witty and fun to read, and her willingness to experiment and try new things is inspiring to us all.

Please bring Stephanie back ASAP, and give her more time.
Let her wonderful personality and helpful tips shine, and lose the stupid comments!"

Oops, I just realized if you read that out of context there's a tiny chance you might think Steph made "the stupid comments" Not so! That would be the host Chris Cuomo! Shame on him!
